Troadkasten – a cozy, rustic holiday house with history
„Holidaying with charm“
Where there is now a cozy bed and the TV hanging, previously, there used to be dried and stored the grain from the own harvest over the winter. Because our rustic holiday cottage was originally a so-called „Troadkasten“. “Troad” means grain, and so was the grain crop of the fields around the Ottingerhof even about 40 years ago stored in the cottage.
Only later, as the grandmother of Ottingerhof used to say, when her boys became older, and not so much grain was grown anymore, then they decided to rebuild the house.
That’s how a cozy and rustic holiday cottage emerged from a granary. Today we can offer this rustic, charming and unique little house to our guests.
Over 3 floors extends a comfortable living area in the traditional Carinthian country style. Lots of wood provides the necessary comfort.
A great deal is still much true to the original and one discovers the history of the cottage in many of its corners.
The ground floor has a small, exquisite kitchen with a dining table. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor. On entering the house you will find a cozy living area and one floor upstairs you go straight to the bedroom. A small balcony offers a magnificent view of the courtyard and out onto the green fields. In the background, the Nock Mountains extend. He who dares further up a little higher, he finds right at the top, under the eaves, a cozy double bed, which is particularly popular with our younger guests. They often tell us that they feel there like in a tower or a castle, and no longer even want to come down.
Of course there is a breakfast basket for our guests in the cottage on request and the vacation in our rustic Troadkasten can be an unforgettable adventure for the whole family.
We would like to point out that due to steep stairs the cottage is not suitable for children under 5 years old or people with reduced mobility.
