Discovering Carinthia

Here are many great ideas for an unforgettable vacation in the Nock Mountains. Not only is there much to discover and experience at the Ottingerhof Farm. Bad Kleinkirchheim and surrounding areas offer endless places of interest and sportive activities for you.

Here is just a small sample of what we have to offer.

In the Nock mountains the “Nocki Flitzer” awaits, it’s an alpine rollercoaster, and fun for the whole family. Close by, there is an Alpine playground with many surprises for old and young. Next there is the Heidi­ Alm at Falkertmountain, which is a favorite with our little guests. On hot days during the summer you can swim in the small mountain lake at Falkert. The alpine Wildpark at Feld im See is worth a visit as well as the Granatium in Radentheim, which allows you to search for some gemstones.

A nature experience in its own right is the almost 35km long Nockalmstraße from spring throughout autumn. Apart from spectacular mountain views there are hiking trails to experience the local wildlife and natural beauty. If attentive, you may be able to spot a groundhog (marmot) or listen to the Stags mating call in fall.

From the mountains we go down into the valley. To Landskron, and the well known Monkeymountain in particular. Here you may not only marvel at a beautiful old castle, but also pet little monkeys and watch a bird of prey show from up close. Next to castle Landskron there is castle Hochosterwitz, which is known for its varied cultural program, always worth a visit.

Next we go down to the wild Raggaschlucht (Canyon). Then it’s back up the divine Maltatal Hochalmtalstraße, which leads to the highest dam in Austria. This is called the Kölnpreinsperre, where the brave get their adrenaline kicks bungee jumping.

Somewhat more calming, but no less amazing, is the view from Pyramidenkogel. Located in Keutschach at the lake is an absolute highlight of any Carinthian vacation. After enjoying the grandiose views, you can use Europe’s largest covered slide for a quick trip back down to the valley floor.

Apart from all the exciting activities, Carinthia is the perfect place to relax and enjoy while biking, hiking or swimming in one of the picturesque mountain lakes. In the winter its back to the ski slopes or the cross country skiing track. Ice-skating over one of the frozen lakes or enjoying a romantic trip with the horse sleigh around the white valley of Bad Kleinkirchheim.
